Pickin' In the Park
Pickin' in the
Park is a series of weekly jam sessions that nurture local old-time
and bluegrass musical traditions. It is held every Thursday evening
from 5:30 p.m. until dusk during the months of May through September
alongside the Beautiful Toccoa River at Horseshoe Bend Park. This
family event has the potential to draw thousands of musicians, spectators
and "pick"-nickers in a season. Fannin County plays a pivitol
role in the cultural life of North Georgia throughout the year. This
weekly event is for pickers, not scheduled performances. Jam sessions
abound in various sizes and styles throughout the park. It allows
music listeners the opportunity to stroll from session to session
and enjoy a wide variety of traditional mountain music and it gives
musicians a chance to meet and make music with other pickers. Admission
is free. And the park is wheelchair accessible. Come out, bring the
whole family to enjoy the experience. Visit
Web Site.
